“It is inappropriate to link  Muslims to the murders of activists belonging to Hindu outfits. Such premonitions should be erased as the community is not interested in unnecessarily flaring up communal tension,” the Federation of Coimbatore District Muslim Organisations and Political Parties said today.

Even before the news of the midnight murder of Hindu Munnani functionary C Sasikumar reached the public, some activists belonging to Hindu outfits indulged in violence and hurled petrol bombs at mosques in two places, Federation Coordinator K Raja Hussein told reporters here.

In a shocking statement, state president of Hindu Munnani Kadeshawara Subramanian had said to the media in the morning that Tamil Nadu will become another Gujarat, where Muslim families are killed, he said.

He pointed out that even before the police have traced and arrested the real culprits, Hindu outfits are blaming Muslims for the murder and targeting the places of worship, shops and other commercial establishments belonging to community.

The district secretary of Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK), Siddiq Ali asked police to take action against Subramanian for his hate speech and urged the government to ban the Munnani, for creating communal tension in the peace-loving Tamil Nadu.

Representatives of 11 organisations and parties such as the SDPI, the Popular Front of India, the Jamaat Islami Hind and the India Towhid Jamaat, were present at the press conference.

They said that such incidents will deprive Coimbatore of investments and consequently its growth more so because the city has been chosen as a Smart City, an initiative under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
