Gandhipuram bus terminus clean-up to be extended to others

Carrying out the special night sanitary drive at the Gandhipuram bus terminus, sanitary workers of the Coimbatore Corporation today collected 60 kg of garbage.
Around 25 workers involved in the drive washed the platforms, cleared the walls of posters and collected litter from the terminus. Sanitory officer and nodal officer of Swachh Bharath KV Thirumal said that the drive was undertaken from Wednesday 10 pm to Thursday 2 am.
A senior official from the Coimbatore Corporation said that the initiative will be taken to other bus terminuses as well. “We would start from next week,” the official added.
Corporation Commissioner K Vijayakarthikeyan also visited the spot and said that drive was carried out in the night so as to not inconvenience the public.
