“Jaya approves party anniversary programme”

Chennai: Ailing Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Friday approved the garlanding of former chief minister MG Ramachandran’s (MGR) statue on October 17, to mark the anniversary of his founding the party over four decades back, the party said.

In a statement issued here, the AIADMK said that on Monday the party will have completed 44 years. Party presidium chairman E Madhusudanan will garland MGR’s statue and hoist the party flag.

Apollo Hospitals said that Jayalalithaa, who was admitted here on September 22 for fever and dehydration, will need a longer stay at the hospital as she was suffering from infection and in on respiratory support.

Various political leaders citing her health condition questioned the mode of advice given by Jayalalithaa to Governor Vidyasagar Rao on allocating her portfolios to Finance Minister O Panneerselvam.
