Workers of the four-party People Welfare Alliance (PFA) will resort to a rail roko on October 17 at the Coimbatore Railway Station to protest against the Centre’s refusal to constitute the Cauvery Management Board. This was decided at a meeting of the leaders of PFA this evening.

The next day, the workers will stage a rail roko at Pollachi and Mettupalayam, to exert pressure on the Centre to immediately constitute the board.

The meeting, chaired by former CPI MLA, M. Arumugam, also condemned the Centre for opposing the constitution of the board, saying that only Parliament has the right to direct it and appealed to the public to support the agitation.

MDMK district urban secretary, R.R. Mohankumar, CPI(M) district secretary V. Ramamurthy, CPI district secretary V.S. Sundaram and VCK district secretary Joe Ilakkiyan, Tamil Nadu Farmers Association district secretary, V.P. Elangovan were among those participated in the meeting.
