Expressing unhappiness over the delay in nabbing the killers of Hindu Munnani functionary C. Sasikumar on September 22 here, BJP Tamil Nadu unit president, Tamilisai Soundararajan today said that there was a suspicion that police were deliberately delaying the arrest.

Though it was over 20 days after the incident, there has been no progress in nabbing the culprits and this has created a general feeling that police were delaying it deliberately, Tamilisai told reporters here.

“The party will appeal to the Union home ministry to monitor the situation in the State, where Hindu outfit leaders are being targeted and killed in the last one year,” she said.

A situation should not arise where political rivals are murdered to take revenge, in view of the forthcoming local body elections, she said and appealed to O Panneerselvam, who has taken charge of administration,  to monitor the law and order situation.

Tamilisai said that police should verify real facts before arresting a person for spreading rumours on Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s health. “Spreading rumours about the health condition of Chief Minister is wrong,” she said.

On closing down of State-run liquor outlets, she said it was the right time to close them. On the recent killing of three college girls involving a water tanker driven by a drunken driver in Chennai, Tamilisai said stringent action should be taken against those driving under the influence of alcohol.
