Flying squads had got down to work in the three constituencies where polls will be held November 19, said Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Rajesh Lakhoni today.

Speaking to reporters here, Lakhoni said with the model code of conduct coming into effect in the districts where the three constituencies fall, flying squad members had commenced work. He also said that there was no restriction on candidates against whom complaints were filed to file nominations for the elections to Thanjavur and Aravakurichi Assembly constituencies where the polling was cancelled after seizure of huge sum of money by officials.

The polls for Aravakurichi and Thanjavur Assembly constituencies and the bypoll for Thirupparankundram Assembly constituency would be held on November 19, the Election Commission had announced yesterday.

The bypoll in Thirupparankundram Assembly constituency was necessitated following the death of AIADMK member S.M. Seenivel, who won the seat in Madurai district but passed away before he took oath as the member of Assembly.

The gazette notification for polls in Aravakurichi and Thanjavur Assembly constituencies would be issued on October 26 and the last days of filing nominations is on November 2. The counting of votes would be held on November 22.
