As part of continued effort towards reaching out to the tribal people, the Coimbatore District Police has embarked upon several initiatives as a means to build confidence among the villages that have been identified as vulnerable with close proximity to hamlets in Kerala which have recorded naxal movements.

The initiatives taken up by the Superintendent of Police RV Ramya Bharati include medical camps, skill building activities for a section of tribal youth, computer training for students and installation of solar lights. Driving skills have been imparted to the youth and the district police have helped them procure license.

In a bid to instill patriotic spirit among the young in the interior pockets, the district police had also organised independence day celebrations. Seven eligible youngsters from the tribal villages were employed by Ganga Hospital and KG Hospital. Apart from medical camps that were conducted as part of the health care initiative, medical camps were also conducted for the cattle which is an essential part of their livelihood.
