Members of the Union of Coimbatore District All Jamath and Outfits today announced that they would organise a nationwide protest in Coimbatore on Sunday in protest against the Centre for trying to impose the Uniform Civil Code in the country.

In a conference organised by the outfits, the members alleged that the BJP-led Government was also trying to dilute the Sharia Law “The new law is to curb our rights to follow our religion and practices,” a member said.

K. Raja Hussain, coordinator of the conference said that the law would disturb communal harmony in the country.

The members said that they would organise a country-wide protest if the Centre failed to withdraw the law.
