Jayalalithaa suffers cardiac arrest

Chennai : The Chief Minister was shifted back to ICU after she suffered a cardiac arrest sometime between 4.50 and 5.30 p.m.
In a sudden development, chief minister J Jayalalithaa, who is undergoing treatment at the Apollo hospital here, suffered a cardiac arrest on Sunday evening and was shifted to the ICU.
State governor Vidyasagar Rao, who is holding additional charge of Tamil Nadu, is rushing to Chennai, sources said.
Doctors are attending on her and monitoring her. An Apollo Hospital press releasse said a team of docotors and specialists belonging to different disciplines were monitoring keeping her under close observation and treatment.
Jayalalithaa was said to have improved and was fit to go back home, as per the chairman of the Apollo hospital Pratap C Reddy. On two previous occasions, he told media persons that it was upto the honorable chief minister if and when she chose to leave for home.
Jayalalithaa was admitted to the hospital on September 22 with complaints of fever and dehydration, but was eventually admitted to the ICU and treated for infection and lung congestion.
A team of specialists from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences was also regularly examining the chief minister and advising the team of doctors attending on her.
