Kochi: Short films come packed with a powerful message and deliver it with a bang in the shortest time possible.

Award-winning theatre director Liju Krishna is moving to the medium of film through his upcoming short, ‘Ima’, starring yesteryear actors Prathap Pothen and Menaka Suresh. It takes you through the life of a middle-aged couple who find happiness in each other’s company.

Middle-aged Madhavan, played by Pothen, can’t live without heavy lens glasses and Radha, his wife, who has internalised blindness forms the crux of the film. It is a journey into the inner reality of human self, environment and existence. “The film makes you experience the beautiful sights and the journey of a loving couple,” says Liju, the short film’s writer-director.

It is the first time that Pothen and Menaka are sharing screen space though they are contemporaries of their time. The editing is done by Shafeeq Muhammed, cinematography by Deepak Menon and music by national award winning composer Bijibal.

Liju’s theatre production ‘Moment Just Before Death’ won nominations in six categories at the META (Mahindra Excellence in Theatre) awards of 2014. It bagged two awards for best actor and best direction, and was performed in various international and national theatre festivals across India.
