15 arrested for trying to sell liquor

At lest 15 persons were arrested for selling liquor illegally in and around the city, despite being dry day.

The Government has announced the closure of all TASMAC outlets for three days from yesterday, following the death of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and warned of stringent action against those indulged in selling liquor.

According to police, 12 persons were arrested from Peelamedu, R.S. Puram and Kuniamuthur late night and early this morning. A little over 400 bottles of liquor were seized from these places, even as some escaped on seeing the police.

Three persons were arrested in rural limits and nearly 50 bottles seized from them.
