AIADMK functionary succumbs to burns

An AIADMK functionary who had immolated himself after hearing about the deteriorating health of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa succumbed to injuries at the government hospital here.
Ramachandran (50), a party functionary from Annur in the rural limits, had poured kerosene over himself and set himself afire in a bid to commit suicide on the evening of December 5, as rumours spread about the AIADMK supremo’s worsening health.
He was brought and admitted to the government hospital here with over 70 per cent burns and was under treatment. However, he died late last night without responding to treatment, police said today.
