Fishermen stranded in mid sea rescued

Thanjavur: Two fishermen, hailing from Sethubavachatram, who were stranded in mid sea after the engine of their boat developed snag, were rescued by marine police.

Mohandas (29) of Sethubavachatram, along with his associate Ganeshamurthy (22) ventured into sea in a fibre boat on Monday. They were fishing when the boat’s engine developed snag. They sent an SOS message through the helpline number 1093.

A police team led by sub-inspector Chandrasekaran, attached to marine police station, rushed in a patrol boat fitted with high powered engine, rescued the duo and brought them back to shore.
