To mark the victory of the youth revolution that pressed the State Government to pass the Jallikattu bill, the City Corporation along with youths plans to plant around 5,000 trees in government and corporation schools.

The Corporation Commissioner initiated the event by planting a sapling in SRP Ammani Ammal Girls High School, R.S Puram.

Addressing the students, the Commissioner said, “Planting a tree is the best way to celebrate our victory and you all know the importance of trees for our city. To deal with the scarcity of water we need rain and for rain we need to plant more trees.”

The 5,000 saplings are sponsored by Sanbrix Properties.

Karthick Vishwanathan, a volunteer for this project, said, “We have around 25 volunteers ready to take up this work. Each volunteer will have areas assigned to them and plant saplings in all the government and corporation school premises. After that the plants will be taken care by the NSS students of the respective schools.”

The program was hosted by RJ Amudhan, Suryan FM, and vote of thanks was given by Joseph Stany, Managing Director of Sanbrix.
