For most voters familiar with unkept promises of political party candidates, She gifted eight public toilets to the people of Kallukuzhi in Coimbatore, a promise she had maded during the 2016 election campaign.

Vanathi contested from Coimbatore South and lost to AIADMK’s Amman K. Arjunan and was pushed to the third slot by Mayura Jayakumar of the Congress. She had then promised the toilets and has kept her word, said a BJP member here.

Despite the defeat, Vanathi continues to visit the people and laid the foundation for the construction of toilets in Kallukuzhi, where more than 200 families reside. Eight toilets constructed at a total cost of Rs 1.8 lakh by the party and were handed over to the public by Vanathi on Sunday.
