Students denied admission after paying fees at Amrita Vidyalayam

Parents have moved the District Collector’s office over Amrita Vidyalayam denying school admission to two children even after collecting fees and a donation a year ago.
D Arman Shalik and R M Vipashree shad completed Pre-KG at the same school and for joining the primary section their parents had paid Rs 60,000, besides the academic fee of around Rs 20,000. But they found their names missing from the list of those admitted.
In the petition, the parents attached a copy of demand draft for the fees paid and were not allowed to pay the money directly. They were not given any receipt.
“Today, we went to school to leave our children and were told by the authorities that admission was closed. How it is possible? We have paid the fees,” said Arman’s father Doulath Bhasha.
“The admission of just two students was cancelled. The parents of the two filed a petition at the Collector’s office a month ago seeking reservation for backward communities as per government rules and also attempted to form a PTA. This explains why the school authorities cancelled the admission,” said S Ragunath, Parent.
The Covai Post spoke to Amrita Vidyalam and was told: “The school or the management knows no such incident. We do not receive any complaint.”
