AIADMK (Amma) general secretary V.K. Sasikala, who is currently in Bengaluru prison following her conviction in the Disproportionate Assets case, appeared before a court for economic offences here through video conference on Wednesday in connection with Foreign Exchange Regulation Act (FERA) case filed by Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Sasikala’s appearance follows her nephew V.N. Sudhakaran, who is also lodged in Bengaluru prison, came to the court in the same case on Tuesday after obtaining transit warrant. Sudhakaran’s brother V. Bhaskaran also appeared before court in the case on Tuesday.
According to the case, imports were illegally made in the name of Super Duper TV through hawala transactions by Sasikala, Sudhakaran and Bhaskaran in 1995-1996.
Charges were framed against all the accused by Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (Economic Offence-II) S Malarmathy and posted the matter for further hearing on July 13.
