Cattle being taken to Kerala seized

Police seized 22 cattle which included 19 buffaloes and three oxen, being taken to Kerala in a container van at Malumichampatti on the outskrits today.

A police team during routine vehicle check early today stopped a container and after a search found the cattle inside, police said.

Preliminary inquiry revealed that the animals were being taken to Wayanad in Kerala from Karnataka. Since there were no proper medical facilities, water and food for the cattle. The cattle were handed over to a goshala near Tirupur.

Police arrested lorry driver Afsar, hailing form Tumkur in Karnataka, and a case was registered against lorry owner Sadiq Pasha of Bengaluru.
