CM urges Centre to provide inter-state green energy corridor

Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Monday urged the Union Power Ministry to allocate entire power generation of 2,000 MW from the proposed unit 3 and 4 of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant to the State.

During his meeting with Union Minister of State for Power Piyush Goyal, Palaniswami urged him to provide a dedicated inter-state green energy corridor at the earliest for sale of surplus wind power.

The Chief Minister also appealed to Goyal to expedite bidding process and allocate a separate coal block for Cheyyur Ulta Mega Power project in Tamil Nadu.

Urging to allocate the entire power generation of 2,000 Megawatt from Kudankulam Nuclear Power plant units of 3 and 4 to Tamil Nadu, Palaniswami also asked the Minister to provide evacuation lines up to nearby substation.

abolition of frequency linked penalty for renewable energy rich state and waiving the compensation charges while surrendering CGS power due to high renewables were the other request made during the meeting.
