Army major arrested over murder of another officer’s wife

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Sunday arrested an Army Major for his alleged role in the murder of his colleague’s wife, whose body was found with her throat slit on a road in Delhi Cantonment.
Major Nikhil Handa was arrested from Meerut in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly killing Shailaja Dwivedi, wife of another Major. “He is now being brought to Delhi,” a police official was quoted as saying by IANS.
The body of Shailja Dwivedi, 35, was found on Saturday near Brar Square. The woman had reportedly left home at 10 am for a physiotherapy session at the base hospital in Delhi Cantonment. She was found dead half an hour later.
When the driver went to pick her up, he was told that the Major’s wife had not turned up for the physiotherapy session. Later, the police were informed by local people about a body on the road with the throat slit.
