Bengaluru: Nothing is safe from Bengaluru’s enterprising thieves, not even a bus shelter. An example of this desperation is the brazen theft of a bus shelter, located close to Sadashivanagar Police Station, on New BEL Road.
The theft came to light on Monday when Praveen Lingaiah, Executive Engineer of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), came to inspect the bus shelter, which was in dire need of an upgrade.
To his shock, he found that the entire metal structure had gone missing, reported The Hindu. Later, he filed a complaint with the Sadashivanagar police. Over 10 years old, advertisers had borne the cost of the bus shelter which had been built on a Public Private Partnership at a cost of Rs1.5 lakh.
A police officer said they assumed that the BBMP took away the shelter as it was in bad shape. The police are now collecting CCTV footage to identify the culprits.
