A commerce graduate and trained media professional, Bedasree Das is helping people with heartbreaks reconnect through love letters that are full of feelings, sentiments and emotions.

Are you are having a problem in your relationship or unable to approach the object of your love and have nowhere to go for well-meaning advice? You have done everything in your power – calling up, messaging on Facebook and WhatsApp – but have only ended up in irritating the person more and are of course going through stress in personal life.

Relax, meet Bedasree Das, a young Love Doctor from Assam whose power of words – expressed love letters – have done the trick for young persons in love going through a bad patch.

A commerce graduate from Guwahati and trained in mass media from Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Bedasree was undergoing an issue of sorts in her own relationship at the point of time. Just some ten months ago. She decided to take up her pen and began to record her thoughts, feelings and justification of her actions to the person in her life as other communication systems had broken down.

The fact that it was one-way communication – a letter – Bedasree had full control of what she was saying and she could say it the way she wanted it to be. To cut a long story short her personal life got sorted and, in the process, she discovered an unusual way to earn a livelihood – writing love letters for people who may be educated and proficient in English, but who could not articulate or express their thoughts and feelings in a romantic way.

Her friend to whom she wrote was the one who goaded her to seriously think about writing letters for people for money.

That was how, The Write Connect, was born with Bedasree announcing her arrival as Lady of Letters, a few months ago.

“My ‘clients’ come to me through word of mouth publicity, friends of friends of mine. See there was this girl who was having issues in her relationship. But even then, the man in question supported her. Feeling guilty as also to thank the person, she approached me to write out a nice letter of her gratitude towards him and explaining her situation, feelings and emotions. It was difficult to explore the depth of such relationships, where you sync your writing style with that of the client, but eventually what came out turned out good,” Bedasree said.

While there is no official record of the result, “they are still together. So the letter must have worked,” she said.

Does she write only love letters?

No, any letter that requires pouring emotions and feelings is my forte, she said in an exclusive chat with Covai Post.

“One of my favourite letters was for a person who wanted a letter written for his sister, who was getting married. They had spent several years away from one another because of education and jobs, but were very close to each other. As the days of the wedding neared he become very busy with the wedding process, and could not spend enough time with his sister. That’s when we got in touch. After the wedding, he called me to say that to make it special letter for his sister. It was his wedding gift to her sister and read out the letter the night before the big day,” Bedasree said.

But yes, mostly people who approach me are the ones facing some or the other problem in their relationship or facing communication problem.

A client’s boyfriend was moving to another city for a job. The girl wanted to give her friend a parting gift. So, my friend suggested I write a letter.”

After a couple of sittings with the client, I realised the girl was very filmy and wanted something dramatic. What is interesting about love letters is that it doesn’t just limit one to facts but let’s one flow into a dream world of fantasies. The letter was more about her hope for a future than of the times they had been together. She wanted him to think about her. My friend later told me the client mailed the letter when the boyfriend reached the other city,” Bedasree said.

What was the result? Well, no news is good news, but I am given to understand they are in a relationship still and going strong.

Bedasree, now 28, is about to step up marketing her The Write Connect and has plans to promote it on social media.

Her teasers and informal interaction with friends and their friends, she says, “has been very encouraging.”

So, for the lady whose favourite hobby is reading has built up a personal library that has the best of contemporary as also the classics. A romantic at heart, she finds a romantic angle and perspective even in Crime and Punishment. Her collection as works on magic realism, fiction and fantasy.

“I try to see romanticism in almost everything I read,” Bedasree says.

“I started The Write Connect after I left one of my jobs, which had left me emotionally exhausted. I have always been into writing and write to people when I find it hard to express my feelings otherwise. I have seen a lot of people lose close relationships because of their inability to explain themselves. That’s when I thought maybe I could help these people. Thinking is easy, writing not, at least for many people. I want to pen their words. A lot of people can write but cannot bring their emotions to the page. I don’t just write love letters, I write letters for friends, family and wherever, someone might need the help of words to express themselves,” Bedasree says about her endeavour.
