18th Chander Memorial Rally on Dec 17

The 18th Chander Memorial Rally for two and four-wheelers will be held here on December 17.

The event is conducted in memory of MK Chander, a motor sports enthusiast with a career spanning over 14 years, and is organised by Coimbatore Auto Sports Club.

This rally which is run on time, speed and distance format and dedicated Chander’s achievements in motor sports . The event will cover a distance of approximately 125 km and not just speed, driving accuracy would be of importance. The average speed will vary from 15 to 45 kmph, a club statement said.

There will be secret check points enroute to monitor speed and every second is liable for penalty whether they are running late or early. Around 70 teams are expected to participate in the rally, it said. There will be an open and novice class besides a separate one for women this year.

All mandatory safety checks called pre-event scrutiny and compulsory driver briefing will be held the previous day. District Collector TN Hariharan will distribute prizes.
