In separate incidents, two women committed suicide by consuming cow dung powder.

20-year-old Bindu committed suicide because she was upset over the postponement of her wedding with her lover. When her family came to know that Bindu was in love with her colleague, they fixed her marriage with the groom of her choice. But, a few days ago, the groom-to-be’s father passed away. As a result the marriage was postponed by a year.

Upset and angered, Bindu consumed powdered cow dung. Her parents rushed her to the hospital but she had died before then.

Srividya, the other victim, was married with two children and was employed in a private company. Her husband used to constantly harass her by suspecting her fidelity. The fights worsened and Srividya consumed cow dung powder. She was immediately admitted to the hospital but failed to respond to treatment and died.
