Two policemen have been suspended for assaulting a college student who was stopped for not wearing a helmet.

The suspended cops, Special Sub Inspector Govindaraj, and Police Constable Solomon were attached to the Saravanampatti Police Station. They had stopped a student two days ago for not wearing helmet. A heated argument broke out during which the policemen reportedly manhandled the student.

The student’s parents filed a complaint with the City Police Commissioner A.K. Vishwanathan, who ordered a senior level inquiry into the incident.
