32,550 Nilgiris farmers benefit from loan waiver scheme

Udhagamandalam : At a function held at the Government Rose Garden (GRG) here on Friday distribution of certificates to beneficiaries of the Tamil Nadu government’s farm loan waiver scheme, was set in motion.

The Nilgiris Collector Ms.J.Innocent Divya,who presided pointed out that at the state assembly session held on February 5,2021,Chief Minister Mr.Edappadi K.Palaniswamy had announced that farm loans availed to the tune of Rupees 12,110 crores by 16.43 lakh agriculturists would be waived.In tune with this loans amounting to Rupees 232.63 crores availed by 32,550 farmers in the Nilgiris would be waived.

The Chairman,Nilgiris Central Cooperative Bank Mr. ‘Kappachi’ Vinodh said that the historically significant scheme evolved by the Chief Minister was to help tackle the problems of the farmers.

The Chairman,Agriculture Marketing Committee Mr.K.R.Arjunan and the Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies Mr.Vanjinathan were among those present.

Earler Ms.Divya distributed farm equipments including tractors worth Rupess 1.04 crores to 20 farmers groups.
