35-year-old survives first suicide attempt, jumps to death in hospital premises

A 35-year-old man, who was admitted to the Government Hospital following a failed suicide attempt, today jumped from the overhead tank of the hospital. He died this afternoon.
According to police, Selvam of Palathurai had consumed cow dung powder following a misunderstanding with his wife on Tuesday. He was rushed to the hospital where he was undergoing treatment.
When his condition started improving, he gave a slip to the attendants and reached the 30-feet high overhead tank of the hospital and jumped from there.
Selvam, who was seriously injured, died this afternoon, police said.
