48-year-old man gets 7-year RI for molesting minor girl

The Mahila Court in the district on Thursday sentenced a 48-year-old man to seven years rigours imprisonment for molesting a four-and-a-half-year-old minor girl.

According to sources, the accused was identified as K Arumugham of Vinayakapuram near Saravanampatti.

On March 21, 2015, the victim was playing in the balcony of her apartment. The accused Arumugham came to visit the person residing on the ground floor of the victim’s house. He noticed the girl and took her to an isolated place in the area and molested her, causing injuries.

After seeing a nail bite on the victim’s body, her mother enquired about it. The girl then narrated the incident.

Based on the complaint of the victim’s mother, All-Women Police Station – East registered a case and arrested the accused on March 25, 2015.

The judge of Manila Court on Thursday convicted the accused and sentenced him to seven years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000.
