The City Corporation has snapped 640 illegal drinking water connections across the five zones in the last 60 days.

The drive against the illegal water connections was carried out from October 27 to December 3, and the highest number of disconnections—303—was reported in south zone.

In the east zone there were 102 disconnections, 118 in the north zone, 54 in the west and 63 in the central zone, during the drive ordered by the special officer and City Corporation Commissioner K Vijayakarthikeyan.

In the last three days alone, 25 illegal water connections were snapped across the city.
