Coimbatore, June 20: In a vibrant fusion of literature, imagination, and community spirit, Prozone Mall in Coimbatore is playing host to a one-of-a-kind literary celebration — Kathai Karnival, a book fair with a twist. Running from June 20 to July 6, 2025, the event invites readers to discover books not by price tags, but by the kilo.

Dubbed a “Weigh Lit Fest”, the fair breaks away from conventional formats. Here, bibliophiles can purchase 1 kilogram of books for ₹549, making it an accessible and novel experience for all kinds of readers — from casual browsers to ardent collectors.

But Kathai Karnival is more than just a book sale.

With weekly live storytelling sessions, creative workshops, and meet-and-greet events with beloved storybook characters, the festival is tailored to delight young readers and families alike. Organisers describe it as a space where stories are not only read but also heard, shared, and experienced.

“This is a celebration of reading in its most joyful form,” say the organisers. “We want children to fall in love with stories — not just on the page, but through performance, play, and imagination.”

A special evening for the press and media has been scheduled on Saturday, June 21 at 7:30 p.m., offering an immersive glimpse into the fest’s vibrant atmosphere. From candid reader interactions to vivid storytelling corners, the event offers ample material for lifestyle features and photo essays.

With free entry, inclusive programming, and a fresh approach to book buying, Kathai Karnival promises to be a must-visit festival for families, book lovers, and young readers — one where the joy of stories truly comes alive.
