With the results of the Class XII exam just a few days away, a group of parents are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the children opt for the right higher education programme. They are the core members of the three-year-old Pranam Foundation.

Its founder, G.R Mohan says that he realized that a majority of children spend all their time in preparing for their exams. As soon as their results arrive, they have no time to decide what they (students) actually want to take up as careers. Parents too are unaware of the higher education options that are available to the children.

Mohan says that the Pranam Foundation was created to lend a helping hand to children to ensure that they chose a higher education programme that matched their talent and interest. “We have organized a psychological and career guidance session for students who have written their class XII board exams. This is to ensure that the students are mentally prepared to accept their results. At the sessions, students interact one-on-one with a psychologist. Based on a few tests and the observations of the psychologist, students are counselled on the options they can consider for their career,” he says.

The sessions are offered free of cost at Sai Baba Colony between 5 pm to 7 pm till May 20. This is the first time that Pranam Foundation has organized such a session. Motivated by the response they received from parents and students who have attended the counselling sessions, the foundation now plans to make these sessions available to students who have attempted their class X board exams from the following academic year onwards.
