Accidental firing creates panic

An accidental firing from a rifle from the premises of Armed Reserve Training School in the heart of the city triggered panic for a while, today.
A constable was loading cartridge in the rifle, when he is said to have accidentally pressed the trigger, leading to the shot, which was heard in the surrounding, police said.
The gun shot attracted the police officials inside the premises and also some curious public.
Since the rifle was pointing upward, there was no damage, they said. The city police commissioner, A. K. Vishwanathan has ordered a departmental inquiry for the reported negligence of the constable.
