Looks like cellphone towers are no more the first choice for protestors. Upset with the prices of liquor and the increasing protests against TASMAC outlets in the state, a very drunk man climbed a power transmission tower in Coimbatore and threatened to commit suicide if prices of liquor are not reduced.
The protester, Tamilarasan, a daily wages labourer, climbed atop the tower on 100 Feet Road in Gandhipuram and began hurling abuses in inebriated condition. The panicked public, fearing that he might get electrocuted, asked him to climb down, and called the police. But Tamilarasan refused, and said that he could climb down only if the government accepts his demands.
The police arrived, and managed to convince him to climb down.
