The beginning of the peak summer season ‘Agni Natchathiram’, which commenced on Wednesday in Tamil Nadu, turned out to be an anti-climax with the day recording a temperature a degree lesser than Tuesday’s.

The highest temperature of 41 degree Celsius, which was recorded in Salem and Vellore district of the State, was a degree less compared to Tuesday’s.

Meteorology office in Chennai said that most of the northern districts were cloudy in the morning, which reduced the temperature significantly in many places including Chennai.

Though, there was a dip in Chennai’s heat on Wednesday, the temperature is expected to rise a couple of degrees in the coming days. The ‘Agni Natchathiram’ is expected to end on May 29.

Weather report also said the heat wave conditions were likely to prevail at isolated places over Tamil Nadu. The sky condition in Chennai is likely to be partly cloudy. Maximum and minimum temperature is most likely to be around 37 and 29 degree Celsius respectively.
