Chennai: Amid growing concerns about the health of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, who was in a critical condition after suffering a heart attack last evening, all the MLAs of the ruling AIADMK were asked to be present at the Apollo Hospitals at 11 am today. Following this, the MLAs started visiting the hospital where Jayalalithaa has been undergoing treatment since 22 September.

According to sources, a meeting of the ruling party’s legislators was held at the hospital’s auditorium, during which they were briefed about the Chief Minister’s condition. Before the meeting started in the first block, MLAs were asked to keep their mobile phone outside, sources said.

Some legislators, including Finance Minister O Panneerselvam, broke down during the meeting, it is learnt. Earlier, the party high command this morning contacted all the MLAs and directed them to be present at Apollo by 11 am, AIADMK sources said.
