e-Commerce retailers, including Amazon, Bluestone and Caratlane expect high sales on “Akshaya Tritiya” for gold and diamond, the day being considered auspicious for buying precious metals.

Mayank Shivam, Amazon Fashion Category Leader, says: “Comparatively, current year sales growth is six times higher because of our Akshaya Tritiya offerings.”

The demand is likely to be higher for 22 carat jewellery, especially plain gold chain and necklaces, he adds.

According to Arvind Singhai, Chief Operating Officer (COO) Bluestone: “Business is growing since last two years, and the company expects to jump the sales six times for the current year during Akshaya Tritiya”.

On the auspicious day, there is no reduction in demand despite the volatility in price of the yellow metal. The high price may affect the volume but the value will grow, he adds.

Arvind adds that for the current year they were expecting demand for gold coins, diamonds and earrings.

Vipin Nair, Vice President of Caratlane.com, says, “Besides gold, we see a lot of movement in diamond jewellery as well.”
