An head load worker committed suicide by hanging from a electric tower, near Periyanaickenpalayam, some 25 km from here, today.

Subramani, an alcoholic, was found missing from the area since the last few days.

However, he appeared at his house this morning in Bharati Nagar and after a few minutes, was seen climbing atop an electric tower and later hung himself to death, police said.

People, who witnessed the incident, immediately informed the police, who rushed to the spot , retrieved the body and sent for postmorterm.

This comes immediately after Gandhian Sasiperumal died in Kanyakumari while protesting against sale of liquor in TASMAC and demanding total prohibition by protesting over the mobile tower. While Subramani in this case had reportedly killed himself unable to quit alcohol, Sasi Perumal parted his life fighting for the cause of hundreds of lives lost due to alcohol and several other poor families that perish because of the financial implications .
