Amaravathi dam water released, to benefit over 54,000 acres

Coimbatore : Water from Amaravathi dam was released Friday for irrigation for over 50,000 acres of land in and around Tirupur district.

State Ministers, Udumalai Radhakrishnan, Vijayabhaskar and Deputy Speaker in Tamil Nadu Assembly, Pollachi V Jayaraman and government officials participated at the function organised to release the water.

The water will be released for 120 days which would benefit 54,367 macres of land in Udumalpet and Tirurpur areas, official sources said.
