Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Hosts 5th Junior and 10th Senior Para Swimming Championship 2024 at its Coimbatore Campus

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, in association with the Tamil Nadu Paralympic Sports Association and Coimbatore Para Sports Association, successfully hosted the 5th Junior and 10th Senior Para Swimming Championship 2024 at its Coimbatore campus. The event attracted 125 participants, including 90 male and 35 female swimmers, competing across 16 categories.

The championship was inaugurated by V. Balakrishnan I.P.S., Coimbatore City Police Commissioner. Winners from the meet will advance to the National Championship, set to be held in Goa on November 10, 2024.

The prize distribution was led by distinguished guests including R. Chandrasekar, Vice President of the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), Kirubakara Raja, General Secretary of TNPSA, Mrs. Sharmila Ramanandh, Organizing Secretary of CPSA, and Air Commodore S.R. Menon (Retd), Campus Director of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore.

Amrita’s Coimbatore campus is home to the only Olympic-standard swimming pool in the district, making it an ideal venue for hosting such a high-caliber para-sports event.
