Auto drivers’ conference in Coimbatore from May 11

Coimbatore : The eighth conference of Tamil Nadu Autorickshaw Workers Federation, affiliated to CITU, starting here from May 11, will discuss various problems being faced by the sector, including meter fare and increasing petrol prices.

About 500 auto drivers from Tamil Nadu will participate in the three-day conference and discuss the issue, P K Sukumaran, reception committee chairman, said in a statement today.

Over 10,000 drivers are expected to participate in a procession on the first day of the conference which will culminate in a rally in the evening.

All-India Road Workers Federation general secretary K K Divakaran, CITU Tamil Nadu president A Soundarajan and general secretary G Sukumaran will be among those participating in the discussion, he said.
