Bazaar to celebrate women entrepreneurship opens in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: A two-day women entrepreneur bazaar for promoting and empowering women was inaugurated today by S Lakshmi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) in the presence of popular actress Seetha at Suguna Kalayana Mandapam.

Designer wear for children and women, ethnic wears, terracotta and silver jewellery, homemade and organic products, bags, paintings and eco-friendly items are on display at the seventh edition of FLO Women Entrepreneur Bazaar.

In the 42 stalls put up at the Bazaar, five to six are by entrepreneurs from outside Coimbatore. Bazaar convener Vanaja Ramaraj said, ”The aim of the bazaar is to support women entrepreneurs and create a space for them to network, gain contacts and know the changes in the industry.”

“We are offering training sessions for women in entrepreneurship and these exhibitions are like a space for them to experience and practice what they learnt,”, said FLO Coimbatore chapter chairperson Uma Maheshwari.
Women Business Entreprises Development Association president Sudha Purushotaman said,” We have put about 20 stalls at the event and this is wonderful opportunity for women entrepreneurs at WOBEDA to showcase their products and sell them.”

Students from Sri Ramakrishna Entrepreneurship Cell are displaying their paintings, designer blouses and set jewellery.

Actress Seetha said, “ Such exhibitions have to be promoted and women from all walks of life get to showcase their entrepreneurship skills. Even entrepreneurs who work from home get to showcase their products at these exhibitions.”
