COIMBATORE: City-based Bharathiar University has been ranked 13th among Indian Universities and 20th under the overall categories of NIRF (National Institutional Ranking Framework) of Ranking of 2018 of Human Resources and Development Ministry.

The university is the only State University under Arts and Science category to top the list of NIRF, a varsity release said here on Tuesday.

This extra ordinary achievement was due to consistent teaching and research activities, it said.

City-based Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has been ranked the 8th best university among the Indian Universities, the only private university to appear in the top 10 list.

“I am extremely thankful to the Government of India, all students and staff of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham for this great reward. It is a wonderful outcome of the visionary leadership of the world-renowned humanitarian leader Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, in setting the dual goals of education for life and compassion-driven research, University Vice-Chancellor Dr. P. Venkat Rangan said in a release.

“This is a testament to the tradition of academic excellence, outstanding faculty and world class infrastructure that Amrita Viswha Vidyapeetham is known for since its inception in 2003,.” he said.
