Chennai: Seasoned Tamil movie director Bharathiraja, who popularised Tamil culture through his super hit films, has issued a warning to the pro-Jallikattu protesters and the youth spearheading the struggle not to fall prey to the evil designs of forces that have infiltrated the Jallikattu movement.
In a four-page signed, open letter addressed to the young protesters, Bharathiraja has warned the youth against anti-national elements that are out to wreck the movement, which has been marked by unparalleled unity among the various sections of the general public.
“The pro-Jallikattu struggle is an epoch-making event in the history of Tamil Nadu, like the anti-Hindi agitation and the freedom struggle. The are some elements out there who want to distract the youth and hijack the movement for their own ends; the youth should identify them and steer clear of their evil designs. Peaceful campaigning has achieved good results and violence is an alien force which has no connection with Tamils,” the film director said in the letter written in a passionate and poetic style.
Singing paeans to the youthful energy which has achieved the revival of Jallikattu, the film director said that the tricolor which would be unfurled in the upcoming Republic Day celebrations would mark the victory of not only Tamils but all Indians in defeating the anti-national forces.
