Bid to create communal divide: Law student suspended

COIMBATORE: A first year student of Government Law College here was suspended on Friday for allegedly speaking on the rape incidents (in Unnao and Khatua) and attempting to create communal divide among the students,

According to a release from the college principal, K.S. Gopalakrishnan, the steps against R. Priya was taken following complaints from the fellow students and also an assistant professor.

The students in their complaint said Priya was forcing them to speak against the Government and also ask them to boycott the classes over the incidents and was trying to create a communal divide among the students.

“Assistant Professor R. Ammu who had gone to inquire about the incident was prevented by her and considering the regulations of the college, she has been placed under suspension, for fear that this would lead to caste, religious and communal clashes. Priya has been asked to not to enter the campus without permission from the principal,” the release added.
