Calling to put an end to the rule of the two Dravidian parties in Tamil Nadu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi pointed out an alternative in the form of BJP, today in Chennai.

Stressing that the May 16 elections would decide the future of the State, Prime Minister Modi told an election rally that the people, who were thinking of change should get rid of the two Dravidian parties. Claiming that corruption had increased in Tamil Nadu, he said for the first time BJP had come as an alternative.

He charged the politicians of the State with corruption and added that they were not ashamed about the high rate of corruption. He said: “Election is not about who will win but who will save Tamil Nadu”.

Modi said the future of the people especially the youth have been affected by the two Dravidian majors. “Their future has been affected. We have to think over it. A time has come to decide the future of Tamil Nadu”, he said.

“Usually an election means who will become an MLA or who will form the government”, he said adding “but the issue in this poll is about the future of Tamil Nadu”.

Modi also assured the people that all the Central Government’s welfare schemes would be made available at the doorstep of each and every house hold in Tamil Nadu if BJP was voted to power.

Claiming that the BJP had emerged as the third force in the State, the Prime Minister said that people in Tamil Nadu have experienced only bad governance for long time. “Now they have found out which is good and bad governance after seeing BJP government at the Centre”, he claimed.

Referring to the devastating floods in Chennai last December, Modi said it was the BJP cadre who helped the public at that time of crisis.

“From the Centre, we have sent Army, Navy and Air Force to help the flood-affected people”, he said adding that he personally visited the State and provided all assistance to the flood-hit victims.

Touching on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue, Modi said he was the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Jaffna in Sri Lanka to wipe the tears of the affected Tamils.

Recalling how five fishermen from Tamil Nadu, who were awarded death penalty by a Sri Lanka Court were saved through diplomatic efforts, Modi said even Fr. Prem, who was kidnapped by taliban militants in Afghanistan, was saved by the Centre.
