Bring kammanaidu community under BC status

Coimbatore : Tamil Nadu Kammanaidu Ezhucchi Peravai (Federation for TN Kamanaidu Resurgence) on Thursday demanded that Kammanaidu Community should be brought under Backward Class from the present forward caste tag.

With nearly 14 per cent of the total population in Tamil Nadu,Kammanaidu community was not getting any major benefits being implemented by Governments, the Federation State President, S Selvaraj told reporters here.

The government should also reserve some percentage for the community in education and government jobs, Selvaraj, who welcomed 10 per cent reservation for Economically Backward Section, said.

Selvaraj also appealed to the Government to install the statues of famous industrialist of the region G D Naidu and iconic farmer leader and founder of Tamil Nadu Agriculturists Associaton, C Narayanasamy Naidu in the city, in honour of them.

Similarly, the name of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University be rechristened as GD Naidu Agricultural University, in his respect, he said.

All these demands will be placed before a one-day conference to be held here on January 27, in which Tamil Nadu Information and Publicity Minister, Kadambur Raju has agreed to participate, Selvaraj said.
