Cage installed to trap leopard in Valparai

COIMBATORE: The Forest Department has installed a cage to trap a leopard, which frequent in the human habitat and attack human and pet animals in Valparai.

The residents, particularly estate workers, were living in fear following the straying of a leopard in Cincona area during the last one month. During the period, it had either killed or attacked some goats and cows.

The animal attacked a woman on Friday at Tan Tea estate.. She suffered injuries. It also attacked a 10-year-old boy two days ago.

Estate workers staged protest and boycotted work on Saturday demanding protection from frequent leopard attacks.
