Chennai: Actor Rajnikanth has appealed to the pro-Jallikattu protesters to end their protest respecting the Centre, State Governments and the Judiciary, which were instrumental in bringing about the ordinance facilitating Jallikattu.
In a hand-written appeal, the actor has said that the protests deserved to be written in golden letters in annals of Tamil Nadu history as students, housewives and other protesters conducted themselves in a peaceful manner. But the unsavory incidents happening at the fag-end of the protests have been only painful for him.
Appealing to the youth to conduct themselves in a dignified manner, the actor has said that the protesters should not let vested interests hijack their peaceful protests.
“The pro-Jallikattu protesters should call off their protests which was organised in a peaceful manner, and they should also respect the law enforcing authorities and the police who have been supporting and guarding them from the beginning,” he said.
Meanwhile actor Kamal Hassan has also appealed to the protesters to stay calm until further assurance on the issue reaches them.
