Kotagiri: The chargesheet was filed against 10 persons in the murder of a security guard of the Kodanadu estate of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa five months ago.
The chargesheet was filed today before the Judicial Magistrate Court in Kotagiri in Nilgiri District.
Guard Om Bahadur was murdered and another guard was injured by a gang in their attempt to break in to the Kodanadu Bungalow on April 24. They managed to break open one room and take away some valuable watches, which were later recovered from a stream.
On investigation, police found 11 persons behind the breaking and the key accused, Kanagaraj, the former driver of Jayalalithaa, was killed in a road accident near Salem two days after the incident.
Police arrested 10 persons, majority of them from Kerala, and lodged in various jails in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
The 300-page chargesheet before Judicial Magistrate C Sridhar is supported by 69 documents and 97 witnesses, investigating officer, Balasundaram told mediapersons, while coming out of the court.
