Coimbatore : A six-day-old infant, who was lifted from the Government Hospital in Pollachi was recovered following the arrest of a woman child lifter in the early hours of Monday.

Devi of Kalaiuapuram had given birth to the baby boy on April 29 in the hospital and the infant went missing from yesterday morning.

Based on her complaint, police monitored a CCTV footage and found a woman with an old man taking the baby out, police said.

The woman was traced at Kurichikottai in Udumalai in Tirupur district past midnight, they said,

The woman, Mariammal, was arrested along with her accomplice and’ further investigations are on.
